13 August 1869 There is a brief report of the offence in the Birmingham Daily Gazette Friday 13 August 1869 p.4 col.6: A BAD BOY.- William Cottar (14) [surname spelled this], court, Saint Mark Street, was charged with stealing a window blind and curtain, value 2s. 8d., the property of his father, William Cottar.-The prisoner was sent to prison for fourteen days, and the end of that time he will be taken to Saltley Reformatory for five years.
