23 April 1879 There is a brief report of the offence in the Walsall Free Press and General Advertiser Saturday 23 April 1870 p.4 col.4: JUVENILE OFFENDER.-At the above Petty Sessions Richard Johnson, aged 10 years, was charged with having on Wednesday last, stolen a silver watch, valued £2, the property of John Perry, engineer The prisoner was sentenced to 14 days' imprisonment, and then to sent to a Reformatory for two years.
