30 December 1876 There is a brief report of the crime in the Birmingham Daily Post Saturday 30 December 1876 p.8 col.5: JUVENILE ROBBERS. - At the Police Court, yesterday, George Westwood, of St. James Street, and William Aston, of Steelhouse Lane,. in the same town, were sentenced each to one month's imprisonment, and then to five years' confinement in a reformatory, for having, on Thursday, entered the shop, in Oxford Street, of Mrs. Baker, with intent to rob the till. Westwood was found behind the counter and Aston in the doorway.
