4 August 1877 There is a short report of the court hearing in Aris's Birmingham Gazette Saturday 4 August 1877 p.7 col.7: ABSCONDING FROM SCHOOL. - George Moor (15) was charged with absconding from Penn Street Industrial School. - Prosecutor informed the Bench that this was the fifth time he had absconded. - He was sentenced to 14 days imprisonment, and after that to be detained in a reformatory school for four years.
